I am called Ranjit
Paperback Edition - 328 pages

Convinced that there is no future for their interracial relationship, Christine Bonnett leaves Bombay behind when her one year work assignment is over, without saying goodbye to the handsome Indian entrepreneur Vijay Mahajan.
Twenty five years later in November 2008, they meet again when she returns to Bombay on holiday, hoping to find the street child Ranjit whom she had befriended. She learns through an acquaintance that Vijay’s marriage to his Italian born wife is a marriage in name only, and has been that way for many years.
When terrorists strike the city, Vijay and Christine find themselves sequestered in his flat where he professes his love for her; love he has carried in his heart since the first day they met on a Bombay bound flight from London; and in a strange twist of events, she also finds the street child Ranjit, whose tale of woe and hardship brings them to tears. Realising that Vijay’s intentions are honourable, she once again enters into a relationship with him, but his life brings with it many challenges; an unrealistic wife, a domineering mother, a drug addicted son and a deep dark secret he has carried for more than twenty years. Determined not to lose Christine a second time, Vijay finally divorces his wife and marries her.
However the complexities of Indian life and its ancient traditions threaten to thwart their blossoming relationship because Christine does not fit the perception of what an Indian wife should be or should look like. Love prevails and her life is fulfilling, but still she finds the way of life too bureaucratic and stressful. When tragedy strikes the family, only through her love, strength and devotion, does Vijay manage to pull himself from the deep dark abyss which almost consumes him.
